The Department of Philosophy at the University of Calgary invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship starting on September 1, 2011. The area of specialization is logic or the philosophy of science. The fellow will be expected to have a well-defined research project, teach one course in the area of specialization, and participate in the research activities of the Department. The Department of Philosophy at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, invites applications for a position at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. The position will be full time and permanent subject to a three-year probationary period.
Candidates in any field of philosophy will be considered. However, we are particularly interested in candidates with diverse expertise in both a traditional core area of Western philosophy and an area outside the traditional core areas of Western philosophy. The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Pace University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin September 2011.The appointment will be primarily on the New York City Campus, but some teaching will also be required on the Westchester campus, located approximately 30 miles north of New York City.
The position requires a PhD degree in either Philosophy or Religious Studies. The successful candidate must demonstrate proven excellence in teaching introductory as well as upper level courses within the disciplines of both philosophy and religious studies. The specific area of specialization is open, but the candidate must demonstrate a passion for and a commitment to teaching students to read and understand the great sacred and secular texts of a wide range of philosophical and religious traditions. The Tilburg Center for Logic and Philosophy of Science (TiLPS)
invites applications for two four-year full-time PhD positions and

Individuals are encouraged to apply who have an interest in logical
and computational theories of ordinary reasoning, natural logic,
and/or linguistic semantics and who want to investigate these topics
in a setting of tableau theorem proving and model checking. The
positions are part of the program "Towards Logics that Model Natural
Reasoning", funded by a Free Competition grant from the Netherlands
Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) and led by Reinhard

The two PhD students are required to complete a PhD thesis within

receive a starting salary of 2042 Euro gross per month in the first

The Center for Genetic Research Ethics and Law (CGREAL) is recruiting a post-doctoral trainee who has demonstrated promise as a future leader in research examining ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI) in human genetics, and who would benefit from didactic training and intensive mentorship.
The goal of the CGREAL Post-Doctoral Training Program is to train researchers whose work is focused on ELSI in the design and conduct of human genetic research, the translation of research results into clinical medicine, and health policy needs related to genetics. We offer a flexible 1-2 year training program to help guide young investigators in this field of study and to provide them with integrated but focused training.
Program Description: CGREAL is an NIH-funded Center of Excellence in ELSI Research (CEER) directed through a collaborative partnership between Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and the Cleveland Clinic. This collaboration allows post-doctoral trainees to participate in the experiential learning environments of both institutions and work closely with a network of scholars engaged in related conceptual and empirical work. Each CGREAL trainee defines a unique training program that is consistent with their personal and professional goals.
The training program consists of:
• Direct experience with a variety of clinical and research practices, conceptual paradigms, and disciplinary approaches;
• A mentored ELSI research project designed and conducted by the trainee in collaboration with his/her mentors.
Required Qualifications: An advanced professional degree (e.g., PhD, JD, MD) in the social and behavioral sciences, genetics or other basic sciences, nursing, medicine, law, or one of the humanities. Candidates interested in clinical genetics and other translational applications of genetic technologies are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants must have completed their doctoral training prior to beginning the post-doctoral program. The post-doctoral positions are currently only open to US citizens.
