The Philosophy Department of Arkansas State University (the Main Campus at Jonesboro, Arkansas) invites applications for two possible full-time visiting positions in philosophy, with AOS and AOC open, for the 2011-2012 academic year (2 semesters), starting in late August 2011 and ending in May 2012. Pending final administrative approval, appointments will be made either as Visiting Assistant Professor (philosophy PhD in hand, salary $45,000) or Visiting Instructor (philosophy PhD candidate ABD, salary $43,000). These are temporary replacement positions and it is not now expected that they will be renewable. Instead, it is expected, pending final administrative approval, that there will be a separate and later search for tenure-track positions for the 2012-2013 academic year for these lines. The teaching load is 4 courses, with 2 preparations, per semester (typically, 3 sections of Introduction to Philosophy and 1 upper level course per semester). The university is located in Jonesboro, Arkansas, which is approximately 70 miles by highway from Memphis, Tennessee.

The Department of Philosophy at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, invites applications for a permanent full-time position to begin in January 2012. Rank: open. Join a research team, working on legal philosophy and constitutional interpretation, comprising Professor Jeff Goldsworthy, Dr Dale Smith and Dr Patrick Emerton. The Australian Research Council funded project aims to apply contemporary philosophy of language to the interpretation of written constitutions, particularly Australia's.
Candidates for the Postdoctoral Fellowship should have completed a doctorate in philosophy, with a specialisation in philosophy of language, at the time of appointment. Candidates with a doctorate in law specialising in constitutional theory or legal philosophy will also be considered. A record of published research is desirable.
The appointment is for one year full-time, commencing on 1 October 2011 (subject to negotiation).

The Graduate School of Ancient Philosophy at the Humboldt-Universitaet zu Berlin invites applications for the position of an academic coordinator. As of this writing, the appointment is temporary and ends on June 30, 2013. But we hope to secure funds to extend the position.
The Graduate School offers a structured doctoral program in ancient philosophy. Students in the program write dissertations in German or English. The international faculty consists of several full professors (Professors Jonathan, Beere, Christoph Helmig, Stephen Menn, Philip van der Eijk) as well as many additional faculty. The Graduate School is part of an excellent research environment and fosters an exciting exchange of people and ideas in its Ancient Philosophy & Science Network.
Assignment: The academic coordinator will be a member of the Department of Philosophy as well as of the Graduate School’s faculty. Her main task is to work intensively with doctoral students on all aspects of their dissertations, both giving feedback on written work and helping to guide the project as a whole. The normal teaching load is 4 Semesterwochenstunden (i.e., 2 classes, each meeting 1.5 hours per week); of this, some is devoted to a dissertation seminar for graduate students.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a doctorate in philosophy or classics. We seek someone with a strong, broad background, especially in Plato, Aristotle and Neoplatonism, including both practical and theoretical philosophy; advanced knowledge of other areas is also welcome. The candidate should have excellent Greek, Latin, English, and German. Experience in teaching is an advantage, as is experience in supervising academic work. The position requires the capacity for close cooperation and a good deal of empathy.

Qualifications requises
* Diplôme universitaire de 2e cycle en philosophie ou diplôme équivalent, obtenu avec mention.
* Une parfaite maîtrise de la langue française.
* Une expérience pédagogique ou de recherche, de même que l’agrégation de l’enseignement secondaire supérieur, constituent un atout.
* Le cas échéant, le candidat joindra un projet de thèse à son dossier de candidature.
