Ethics Fellowships on Institutional Corruption: residential and non-residential

The Lab @ Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard is once again welcoming applications from talented scholars and practitioners, at any stage of their career, who will uncover and explain institutional corruption and build tools to counteract it.

We are seeking applicants for our Lab Fellowships and Projects, which are funded residential and non-residential fellowships and projects for scholars and collaborators engaged in research and practice that directly address institutional corruption.

We are also seeking applicants for our Network Fellowships, which are non-funded fellowships for scholars working independently on projects related to institutional corruption.

2014-15 will be the final year of the Lab's project on institutional corruption, and we will give special preference to work that offers new means to remedy institutional corruption. We have a particular interest in projects that translate scholarship into concrete proposals and tools for reform.

The Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, seeks to employ two University Lecturers in the Department of Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy.

The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Groningen is a vibrant, international community of excellent researchers. It consistently receives the highest evaluations both for research and for teaching among philosophy departments in the Netherlands. The presently advertised positions will have their primary appointment in the Department of Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy. The Faculty's two other departments are Theoretical Philosophy and History of Philosophy.

Teaching includes courses at undergraduate and graduate level in the department of Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy, and can include courses for students from non-philosophy faculties. Given expertise already available in the department, teaching expertise in areas such as critical theory, philosophy of culture, global justice, aesthetics, developments in 20th-century moral, social and political philosophy is especially welcome.

Qualifications
The successful applicants will have a PhD prior to appointment, a strong research profile and publication record appropriate to career stage, and research interests in ethics, social and/or political philosophy broadly conceived.
Further requirements: excellent didactic qualities; a willingness and ability to apply for Dutch and/or European grants for research projects; ability to carry out administrative duties; for non-native speakers of Dutch, working knowledge of Dutch within 2-3 years after appointment.

Conditions of employment
After a probationary period of 2 years, the appointment will become permanent on condition of a positive evaluation of teaching and research.

The salary will be based on the experience and qualifications of the candidate and will be supplemented by a holiday allowance of 8% per year and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%. The faculty offers a pension scheme, collective insurance schemes and flexible employment conditions (multiple-choice model).

POLONSKY POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS

5-year Polonsky Postdoctoral Scholarships in the Humanities and Social Sciences

The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute proposes to award up to six Polonsky Postdoctoral Fellowships in any field of the Humanities or Social Sciences for a period of up to five years, beginning October 10, 2014. The Fellowship offers an annual stipend of $40,000. Yearly renewal of the Fellowship will be contingent upon demonstrated progress in research. Fellows will be expected to be physically present at the Institute for consecutive years during the period of the award.
Although these are postdoctoral fellowships, other candidates may be considered in those fields in which a doctoral degree is not a prerequisite for career progress.
