Folsom Lake College is the fourth and newest college in the Los Rios Community College District. To meet student needs, the college provides classes in a variety of scheduling modalities including semester, short term and weekends. Folsom Lake College also incorporates the newest technologies for classroom instruction and offers classes in a variety of distance education formats including televised, online, and hybrid.
The college seeks a student-centered faculty member who has a broad knowledge base in Philosophy including, but not limited to, Introduction to Philosophy; Logic and Critical Reasoning; Critical Reasoning and Composition; Philosophy of Religion; and Introduction to World Religions. The teaching assignment will include, but is not limited to, all courses offered in Philosophy and include the development of curriculum, certificates and/or degrees, and service to the college.
Teaching assignment may include day, evening, on-line, hybrid, weekend, and/or off campus classes and may be divided among Folsom Lake College and its El Dorado and Rancho Cordova Centers.
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her regular teaching field; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty as outlined in the college faculty handbook.
1. Have a master's degree from an accredited institution, completed by August 1, 2014, in philosophy; OR, a bachelor's degree in philosophy AND a master's degree in humanities or religious studies; OR, the equivalent.* OR, hold a California Community College Instructor's Credential in the discipline area.
2. Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles.

Entering annual salary within a given range varies, depending upon units and degrees completed at accredited colleges/universities and on verified experience. Additional earnings may be available for summer, overloads, and stipends.

The Department of Philosophy at William Rainey Harper College, a comprehensive suburban community college located twenty-five miles northwest of Chicago in Palatine, Illinois announces one new tenure-track Philosophy Faculty position. The department currently has an ongoing need for a generalist who can teach a variety of introductory-level courses, including Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, and Critical Thinking. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated excellence in teaching World Religions and other courses that deal with religion from a philosophical perspective. These courses include: Philosophy of Religion, Religion in America, and Non-Western Philosophy. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach both foundational Philosophy courses and Religion courses.
Applicants must have at least an M.A. in Philosophy or in a field that emphasizes the teaching of religion from a philosophical point of view. Degrees that will be considered include an M.A. in Religious Studies, Theology, or Comparative Religion, or a M.
