The Department of Philosophy is looking for a

University Assistant without doctorate

(20 hours a week; fixed-term employment for the period of 4 years; position to be filled as of October 1st 2014 )

Job specification
•Provide research assistance
•Provide organisational and teaching assistance for courses
•Independently design and teach one course per year
•Provide support and advice for undergraduate students (for example by holding a regular consultation hour)
•Participate in ongoing research projects and assist in developing new ones
•Provide administrative support
•Write a PhD thesis in Eighteenth-Century-Philosophy of Mind

Professional qualifications
•Diploma or master's degree in Philosophy, preferably with a thesis on Early Modern Philosophy
•International experience (desirable)
•Very good English and at least a working knowledge of German (desirable)
•Familiarity with philological and interdisciplinary aspects of historical work in philosophy (desirable)

Personal profile
•Strong communication and organisational skills
•Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team
•Reliability
•Competence in both teaching and advising students

Classification

Salary scheme of the Universitäten-KV (University Collective Agreement): B1

Minimum salary

The minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement and according to the classification scheme is EUR 1307.90 gross/month. This minimum salary may be higher due to previous employment periods eligible for inclusion and other earnings and remunerations.
