Job Description: 

Yale-NUS College is a collaboration between the National University of Singapore and Yale University, offering a liberal arts curriculum combining Western and Eastern traditions with contemporary skills. Our community of 1000 students represent 66 countries and are intellectually elite, with an acceptance rate of <7%. Our 100 full-time faculty teach two small seminars per semester, with a guaranteed pre-tenure sabbatical and generous research support.

The College invites outstanding applications for at least three open rank, tenure-track or tenured positions in the social sciences. Candidates would teach in our Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) and / or Global Affairs (GA) majors, as well as in Yale-NUS’s flagship common curriculum (http://www.yale-nus.edu.sg/curriculum/common-curriculum).

For GA, we particularly welcome applications from scholars who can teach international development or international/comparative political economy or quantitative methods, or who have regional expertise in the Middle East, Africa, or Latin America.

For PPE, evidence of scholarship or teaching that integrates two or more PPE fields (politics, economics, philosophy) would be an asset.

Applicants require a PhD in a relevant discipline, such as politics, economics, sociology, development studies, or geography. They should be active researchers with a commitment to creative and effective undergraduate teaching and mentoring. The College places emphasis on productive and impactful research programs, akin to other top liberal arts colleges in the world. The appointee will be expected to begin duties in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Faculty receive highly competitive salaries, a generous start-up grant, and yearly travel and research allowance, with access on a competitive basis to substantial additional grant funding.
