The Department of Cognitive Science in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for a non-tenure track, fixed-term-appointment Lecturer of Philosophy. We seek candidates whose area of specialization and competency includes some permutation of Philosophy of Science, Logic, Philosophy of Mathematics, Ethics, Philosophy of Mind. The Department of Cognitive Science offers unique opportunities for students to focus on the scientific study of mind, brain, and intelligence. The Department is home to psychologists, philosophers, cognitive scientists, and computer scientists, whose teaching and research complements Rensselaer's traditional strengths in science, engineering, and technology. The Department offers B.S. degrees in Philosophy, in Psychology, in Cognitive Science, and a highly selective Ph.D. program in Cognitive Science.

The successful candidate will have a record of achievement in teaching and research of philosophy and teach courses such as Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Science, or Philosophy of Biology. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated successful teaching experience at the collegiate level. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or foreign-degree equivalent in Philosophy or an appropriate related field of study.
