The Department of History, Anthropology and Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track position in Philosophy on the Blue Ridge campus at the Assistant Professor level beginning June 1, 2016.

The vision for the Blue Ridge Campus is to offer a variety of educational pathways that meet the needs of the region, to include dual-enrollment courses for high school students, continuing and professional education programs for adult learners, and a full-time cohort-based program for first-time freshmen with courses that will enable students to complete degrees in regional high-demand disciplines. This cohort model may include learning communities and an innovative interdisciplinary curriculum that builds the skills necessary for success in college-level work and uses the region as a context for learning in and out of the classroom. The university will support student success through financial counseling, mandatory advising, and a required pre-college summer program.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

This position will require teaching three (3) or four (4) courses per semester along with curriculum development on this newest of UNG’s five campuses. Summer teaching is a possibility with this position. Service and scholarly activities are expected, and interdisciplinary curriculum development will be an important component of this position.

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. in hand by June 1, 2016 is required. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential. Online teaching experience a plus. AOS & AOC: Open, although preference will be given to those who have experience and interest in Non-Western philosophy.
